27/10/2011 - STAE held a meeting to coordinate Voter Education activities and the participation of Timorese citizens in the coming general elections in 2012



Convened by the Director General of STAE, Tomás do Rosário Cabral, the main objective of this meeting was to request from all the electoral stakeholders that had previously worked with STAE on voter education, to coordinate with STAE to convey "one voice" on voter education messages, as STAE is the Electoral Management Body in Timor-Leste responsible for planning, organizing and implementing election and also responsible for voter's education.

The Chief of the STAE's Voter Education Department, Eduardo Casimiro de Deus made a presentation explaining the main point of the Voter Education Campaign.

STAE took this opportunity to inform all the stakeholders that their BRIDGE semi-acreditated staff is designing BRIDGE's modules on Voter Education Awareness Campaign to Youth, Women and to Disable voters and also on Security in Elections. Another activity that STAE is currently doing is also designing Public Awareness Campaigns to general voters and also to the mentioned vulnerable groups, in order to inform all potential voters to register now in order to cast their vote for 2012 general elections.

In the end and leaded by the Deputy Director General, Elviro Fernandez Moniz each organization had the opportunity to express their plans, concerns and to make questions.

Present at this meeting was the representatives from United Nations Electoral Support Team (UNEST), UNMIT, CNE, UNICEF, UN Women, Youth UNICEF, International Republic Institute (IRI), Caucus, PNTL and UNPOL.
